Pyrite beneficiation method

China is rich in pyrite resources, but most of them are of medium and low grade. Rich ores with grades higher than 35% only account for about 4% of the total reserves. However, pyrite is the main sulfur resource in China. The development and utilization of pyrite plays an important role in the development of our national economy and industrial and agricultural production. Therefore, it is very important to study pyrite beneficiation to improve concentrate grade and recovery.

   Flotation and gravity separation are mainly used in pyrite separation. Flotation is that the surface of mineral particles is hydrophobic and floats up by adhering to bubbles under the action of flotation agents. Gangue minerals cannot adhere to bubbles, separating target minerals from gangue minerals. The ore particles attached to the bubbles float up to the surface of the pulp and are scraped out by the scraper to obtain the concentrate. The tailings that do not float are tailings. Flotation is more effective for the treatment of weak magnetic minerals and fine particles.

   The flotation of sulfide ore was studied by electrochemical method, and the important role of potential in mineral flotation separation was found. The flotation process is essentially a process of anodic reaction (oxidation of minerals or collectors) and cathodic reaction (reduction of oxygen) on the mineral surface, and the balance of redox reaction between minerals and solution interface is directly affected by electrode potential, resulting in hydrophobic or hydrophilic minerals.
